The makeup that is totally making me feel good about my over 40 skin again.
I’m pretty open about almost anything.
Adoption, my ongoing battle with anxiety, and my over 40 skin. I used to be blessed with pale porcelain skin, but then years of sun damage and hormones kicked in and my pale skin is now pale skin but covered with melasma and dark spots.
I’m learning that uneven skin tone is a challenge to cover up. I’ve tried so many different kinds of coverup and makeup but either a) it didn’t work and all my discoloration still showed through or b) I had to pile on so much makeup and cover-up that I looked like a freakin’ clown.
But holy moly, I just found a new brand of makeup that I’m loving. The brand is called IT COSMETICS. It’s light, natural, and totally, I mean totally, covers uneven skin tones and makes you look like you’ve just got great skin. (See the bottom of the post for my dramatic before and after photos.)
The brand is created by a former on-camera reporter who needed it to cover her severe rosacea. You may have seen her infomercials where she reveals the redness hiding underneath her makeup. Seemed a little too good to be true. I still wasn’t sure until a friend who also suffers from melasma raved about how well it covered her own skin discolorations. I knew I ad to try it.
Here are the products in their line that I’ve tried out so far.
Your Skin But Better CC color correcting cream with SPF 50+.
This product comes in an easy to use pump, it just takes a bit to completely cover my face. And I love I used the foundation, it just takes a bit. Since my melasma is along my jawline, I make sure to apply a bit more there. I love that it has sunscreen so that’s one less step to do each morning.
Bye Bye Undereye Full Coverage Anti-Aging concealer
I have always had darkness under my eyes and most concealers just make it lighter which totally calls attention to that area instead of covering it. This stuff is a miracle. The consistency is thicker than other formulas I tried, which might be why it stays there and seems to really camouflage any undereye circles you’ve got there. I used the medium shade and it truly stayed on all day and did its magical concealing. LOVE. LOVE.
Here’s a photo of me before with no makeup. (don’t judge please!)
And here’s a pic with the new foundation.
Wow, huh? (And did I mention that it’s got sunscreen in it and is vegan and cruelty free? Yep.)
Here’s a really quick video for an ever better look at the before and after.
Hello Lashes 5-in-1 mascara
First off, you take this mascara out of the box and feel the padded handle and think, this was definitely designed by a woman! Who else would think to include that detail. The wand is different too, it has ball on the end of brush to use vertically to separate out the lashes and get those tiny lashes in the corner of your eye. Outstanding design. Who needs fake lashes when you’ve got this stuff?
Naturally Pretty Essentials Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette
This small set contains pretty much any eye shadow shade that I’d ever use. You can use it wet or dry to use the shades as a shadow or liner, and there’s a large shade with some shimmer that you can layer over any one of the matte shades to add shimmer to that shade. Genius!
OK, ready for the before and after photos? (And please be kind, my melasma is BAD.)
I haven’t tried the blush, lipstick or the makeup brushes yet. Those are next on my list to try. I purchased mine at Ulta Beauty.
Have you tried this makeup? Would love to hear what you think about this brand and if it’s made a difference in your over 40 skin too.
