4 of The Best Apps for women you need to totally rock your world.

Here’s my review of the best apps for women. These are my top list of apps that totally make your life better, make you happier and more productive.

I have found some terrific apps to help me keep those resolutions I’ve made to get stronger, more fit, healthier, and maybe just a little bit more sane. Here are the 4 apps you need to totally rock 2015.

1. Headspace

Headspace Mindfullness App Review

Headspace is a meditation and mindfulness app that’s like a personal trainer for your brain. I read about English actress Emma Watson using it and thought if it’s good enough for her, it’s good enough for me. I’ve tried so many meditation apps and couldn’t last through the new age-y music and strange, icky voiceovers. This app is to the point, accessible and free of ethereal mumbo jumbo. Andy Putticombe, the creator and the voice on the app sounds like a cute British guy you’d like to get a beer with. The ten session entry level is free and then there is a small monthly charge to continue. They call it a gym membership for your mind. I’m on the third phase and already feeling calmer, less “buzzy”, and find myself more in-the-moment. I’m hooked.

2. The Scientific Seven Minute Workout

The Scientific Seven Minute Workout App

I found this app when it was featured in the New York Times. This is their app that gives you a total body workout using all major muscle groups in a very speedy seven minutes. It’s based on the latest fitness research which shows a short high intensity workout is as valuable as a traditional twenty minute workout. I do this just about everyday. No, it’s not a trip to the gym but I swear I can tell my arms are more defined and less jiggly.  There’s the basic or the advanced workout (the advanced does include using weights). You don’t need much space so I can do this app in a hotel room, or bust a quick round out before I get showered and dressed in the morning. The best part of it for me is mental; I know that at least I’ve done this on those days when I can’t make it for a full workout. My twelve year old has even done it with me. A booty saver.

3. Moment

Moment-The Automatic phone usage app

I’m constantly nagging my daughter to put down her cellphone and then I too a look at myself and realized how  addicted I am to my iphone. Enter Moment. It’s a free app that monitors how much time you’ve spent on your phone and sends you preset reminders when you’ve exceeded your allotted time. Be forewarned: you’ll be amazed when you see how much time you actually burn trolling Facebook. And it shows you how many times you pick up your phone and check it too. There are also family accounts so that you can also keep track of your kid’s phone usage. I’ll be adding it to her phone next.

4. Stitcher

Stitcher Radio App

Stitcher is an amazing free app that gives you access to over 25,000 radio, TV shows (audio), and podcasts in one place. Have you been following the Serial Radio show? That’s here. I listen in the morning and get a quick burst of news headlines. And whether you like NPR, CNN, or Fox News, you’ll find your favorite news shows here. I listen while doing the dishes, cleaning up, or out in the neighborhood for a walk. It’s my favorite, knowledgeable companion. Now stay informed and maybe learn some new things as you go about your day.

Hope you enjoy these four apps that I think are the best apps for women.

What apps help you stay strong and focused? Let me know!
