I try to keep my TV show binge watching in check most of the time, but just had to share these 4 binge worthy TV shows that I’m loving on right now.
TV has never been better. Right now, there are almost too many shows out there to know which ones to watch. Here are 4 shows that I’m totally hooked on.
These binge worthy shows are funny, smart and have an uplifting theme of starting over. (Which I think we can all relate to.)
But be careful because you might end up staying up all night to try and watch entire seasons in one sitting.
Yes, I’ve done that. (And I have the under eye circles to prove it.)
Here’s my list of binge worthy TV shows:
Grace and Frankie-Netflix (Emmy nominated)
Two women in their sixties, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, get the shock of several lifetimes when their law partner husbands (Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston) announce they are leaving their wives to marry–each other. When the men reveal that they’ve been carrying on a romantic relationship with each other for 20 years, the frenemy wives are forced to move in together and deal with starting completely over. It’s boyfriends, bonding, online dating and learning to stand alone again. Plus how fun is seeing Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin onscreen together? Absolute joy. Season one; thirteen episodes. Season Two coming 2016.
Transparent-Amazon (Emmy nominated)
Talk about starting over? How about finally coming out as transexual to your wife and adult kids? Jeffrey Tambor stars as a man who finally finds the courage, or the desperation, to share the secret he’s been hiding from everyone for decades. Transparent is his journey to redefine himself and finally begin to live his life as a female. Jeffrey Tambor is phenomenal and Judith Light (remember her from Who’s The Boss?) is wonderful as his ex-wife. Season one; ten episodes. Season two debuts December 4.
Younger-TV Land
Liza Miller (Tony Award winner Sutton Foster) is a forty year old woman fresh out of a messy divorce. She quit working to raise her daughter and now has to reenter the workforce decades later and land a job. (Any other forty something divorceds relating to this too?)
Only problem? No one will hire her. So in desperation, she lies about her age (a lot) and transforms herself into a 26 year old to get a job as an assistant with a publishing company. Only problem, now that she’s got the job, she has to actually do the job AND keep up the lie. Full of great tales of divorce, starting over, dating again, and trying to fit in. (And did I mention her romance with way adorable twenty something guy?!) Produced by Darren Star, the producer of Sex and The City, also stars Hillary Duff and Debi Mazar as her best gal pals in the city. If you’ve divorced, you are going to love her story of starting over. Season One, twelve episodes. New season premieres January 2016. (Can’t wait!)
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt-(Emmy Nominated) Netflix
Hilarious Emmy nominated comedy about Kimmy Schmidt, a girl rescued from a doomsday religious cult who sets off to find a new life on her own in New York City.
A heartwarming reawakening as Kimmy learns about everything (cellphones, the internet, life as an adult) after being locked away from society.
Great supporting cast including Jane Krakowski as her self involved socialite boss, and Tituss Burgess as Kimmy’s gay wanna be actor roommate. Written by ass kickin’ Tina Fey.
A hilarious story of a can-do positive thinking girl. Season One; thirteen episodes. Season Two out soon I hope!
These shows are my new best friends. Take a watch and let me know what you think.
