I just had to share the story of the amazing movie He Named Me Malala. The most inspiring true story of bravery.
I got to see a preview of the Fox Searchlight documentary about the courageous, Nobel Peace Prize winner, Malala Yousafzai. And to say that it’s inspiring is an understatement.
You have probably heard of Malala Yousafzai. She was fifteen when she was shot in the head by the Taliban for daring to go to school and get an education.
I’d read her book, I am Malala. The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by The Taliban. And now the movie shows us more about this warrior. The film truly shines with the light of her bravery.
Tears. Laughter. Inspiration. (The scenes of her bickering with her brothers and giggling over pictures of Roger Federer? You realize that yes, she’s an ordinary seventeen year old girl too which only makes her bravery even more monumental.)
He Named Me Malala is a beautiful tapestry of interviews, footage from the time of the shooting, her incredible will to live, and her new life and activism for the rights of children everywhere to get an education.
In the words of Malala:
.
Stand up and take the pledge to see the movie (and take your Daughter, Granddaughter or Niece).
Malala proves the power of the light in all of us to shine bright against the darkness.
This film has reignited my inspiration to make a difference in this world in my own small way. How will it inspire you? How can we shine our light?
xoxo-Rosie!
