In cased you missed it, vaginal weightlifting is now a THING.
And it just might have some real benefits for you, me and our vaginas.
Did you happen to see this jarring photo of an attractive woman holding a mango. With her VAGINA?
Or how about this one? Yes, that’s a surfboard dandling from her lady parts.
And in case you needed something heavier, a woman in Russia demonstrates vaginal weightlifting with dumbbells. She’s lifted 31 pounds with her vagina! That’s pumping some iron.
Yep, I think a trend is born.
These posts and photos are shocking but maybe not quite as crazy as they seem. These women sporting tropical fruit or dumbbells hanging from their vaginas are supporting (pun intended) an even larger issue. Something I definitely didn’t understand. As we age, our pelvic muscles need to be worked out and worked on just like our biceps, hamstrings, or any other muscles to stay strong. As the saying goes, use it or lose it. So I guess flabby, weak and out of shape happens outside and inside. And it’s not all fun and games you see. Weak vagina muscles don’t just make orgasms less frequent; weak vaginal muscles also contribute to a long list of icky ailments; vaginal and rectal organ prolapse, pelvic pain, and urinary incontinence. Yeah, let’s sidestep all of those things. (Sneezed and wet your pants? Tinkle while doing jumping jacks? Time to start a vaginal fitness program.)
And another really big reason to start a vaginal workout routine? Keeping these muscles strong may just help keep you out of a nursing home too. Urinary incontinence is a reason many elderly women enter nursing homes and start the downhill slide of infections, loss of mobility, depression, and powerlessness. Strong muscles down there becomes really important for our well being. A strong vagina might just keep you healthy. Hell, a strong vagina might just save you life.
How do you start your vaginal weightlifting and strengthening routine?
Lots of experts believe kegels and overall pelvic strengthening exercises together keep you strong.
Have you tried to do a kegel? I don’t know about you but I always wonder if I’m doing it right! I’m contracting something somewhere but Lord knows if I’m even close. Am I truly squeezing the exact muscles or is it just my imagination and lots of general scrunching as I try to do a few reps at stoplights (or while stuck in traffic. Like the other crazy things I do while sitting in Los Angeles traffic.)
There’s even a new a new FDA approved device called Pericoach. It’s got sensors to measure and track the muscle movement all from their app on your smart phone. High tech kegels. Who would have imagined that one.
Want to learn more about the importance of keeping your pelvis strong and happy? Here are some resources.
Women’s Health Foundation is a great place to start if you want information about the importance of health “down there”. This foundation was started by a woman who suffered from prolapse and incontinence following childbirth and has lots of information on prevention, exercises and the latest data. The Foundation has an award winning exercise program called The Total Control Program, designed for women of all ages. They even have a certification program for fitness instructors.
Here’s the website for Kim Anami (of the coconut and surfboard lifting). She has an entire online and in person program for a strong vagina, Goddess like sexual health seminars and information, and her program called Vaginal Kung Fu! Her seminars are hosted in amazing locations like Bali and Mexico. Get in touch with your feminine power in amazing, exotic locales.
And here’s a whole page of articles on Shape magazine about anti-aging tips for a strong, youthful vagina.
