Cannot believe it’s the holiday season. Last week it seemed I was decorating pumpkins, and suddenly it’s full on, pedal to the medal holiday time.
Like most years, the holiday season seems to have snuck up on me. I’m woefully unprepared, especially in the whole holiday outfit department.
Thank you, oh thank you, Stitch Fix for coming to the rescue with some stylish, holiday ready outfits just in time.
I have not done any holiday outfit shopping and had a holiday getaway to Terranea Resort this past weekend in Palos Verdes, California. (If you haven’t been there, it’s a spectacular oceanfront resort just 45 minutes from downtown Los Angeles, but as you can see it is a world away.) Here are some shots of the amazing view from our room.
See what I mean? Heaven. There are 4 pools on property, a to-die-for spa and the holidays are so special and beautiful here.
Terranea goes all out with amazing decorations and events to really get you into the holiday spirit.
I brought the entire Stitch Fix box on my trip since I needed separates that were elegant but not fussy. The entire fix coordinated in tones of black, gold and deep purple. Made packing so easy!
I love the fact that my Stitch Fix
(Like no parkas, for instance!)
But these tops and jeans could easily work layered under jackets or sweaters for a colder climate.
I simple adore the burgundy, gold and black colors that dominated this collection. Bring on the holidays!
Here’s the rundown on my Stitch Fix
Goldtone Asymmetrical Purse.
Let’s start with the purse. I NEVER would have selected a gold purse like this but I love it. I can see getting so much use out of it.
I tend to like understated style (again something that my stylists totally get.) Holiday style for me is adding in just a hint of glint or metallic to a monochromatic outfit. The purse has a shoulder strap that can make it into a shoulder bag.
(I’m really loving the Stitch Fix bags and purses, this is my second, and I’m really impressed with the style, price and quality. Here’s a link to an oversized burgundy bag from a previous fix.)
I’ve paired it with gold edged black velvet Tstrap shoes that I scored at a J Crew sale years ago.
Deep Purple Embellished Blouse.
I paired the dark purple embellished neckline blouse with the Kut from the Kloth black skinny jeans. The blouse is really, really flattering, it has a small zip in the back and shirring detail so the fit is feminine and not too baggy. You will be seeing this in lots of holiday photos!
A perfect outfit for dinner or holiday party. The black jeans with the heels to make them a go to look for lots of Christmas-y situations.
Kut from the Kloth Skinny Jeans.
I wasn’t familiar with the Kut from the Kloth jeans brand but they are ah-mazing.
Lots of stretch, a nice soft fabric and the stretch really holds up so you don’t end up with a baggy butt by the end of the day!
(I also have the Kut from the Kloth boyfriend jeans that have become my favorite. denim. Here’s the details on those jeans in this Stitch Fix Review.)
Cross Front Blouse with Crochet Detail.
Another thing I really love about Stitch Fix are the details of the clothes. This shirt is a basic black but has 3/4 sleeves in a black crochet.
I love an all black outfit for evenings out and the details on the sleeves makes the blouse seems special. (The blouse does run a bit large, this is a medium and I’m a size 6. If you are in between sizes, I’d size down to a small.)
I paired it with the Kut from the Kloth black skinny jeans and the gold asymmetrical clutch in gold. I kept the accessories to a minimum and wore a gold link bracelet that I bought years ago at a wardrobe stylists sales here in Los Angeles.
Understated, some shine and holiday spirit but not too blingy.
Lace Backed Drape Front Jacket.
Last but not least, is the Kut from the Kloth drape front jacket.
It is a really soft faux leather with a stunning detail. The back is a wonderful, sheer black lace.
I paired it with the dark purple embellished neckline blouse and loved the look of the purple peeking out from the lace back of the jacket. I got a medium, which is a bit roomy, again if you are in between sizes request a small. It runs large.
