I made it an entire week! Seven whole days of only wearing dresses!
Today, I’m showing off my very ladylike Reiss dress.
Yes I know, on the scale of accomplishments it’s not quite summiting Everest or swimming with sharks, but in my itty bitty divorced mom world, it’s kinda major.
Now at least my daughter doesn’t think I’m going to a funeral because I’m not in my workout pants.
Day Seven was Sunday and I had some places to go so I got to wear one of my favorite brands, Reiss.
I found out about the British brand Reiss after totally digging Kate Middleton’s elegant, effortless style. I checked out their online site but fell in love when I made a trip to their Beverly Hills store.
(Disclaimer, I’m not a Beverly Hills store kinda person. I HATE rude, snobby sales people. The team at Reiss was wonderful, knowledgeable and friendly.)
This Reiss dress has a fitted bodice with a pleated skirt. I love the v-neck. It’s flattering and elongating (but without being one of those crazy low v’s that’s so low your bra is popping out.)
I loved loved this dress so much that I went online and ordered the exact same dress in Plum. This dress isn’t available online but the Reiss Eros dress in Plum is a very similar cut. (Now I wished I’d bought it in Navy too!)
The shoes I’m wearing here are the Louise Et Cie Hermosah Pump (which is a division of Vince Camuto).
I bought these shoes last year and have adored the uniqueness of the contrasting textures. I’ve worn them with rolled up jeans or dressy dresses-they work with everything.
So what have I learned after 7 days of only wearing dresses?
I feel better when I take some time to care about my appearance. It’s not vanity but instead treating myself like I matter.
I probably won’t wear a dress every single day, but I will wear one more often, and make that day feel a little bit more special.
What’s the big take away?
Every day is just another day, yes, but it’s also another day of my life. And that is an occasion worth getting dressed for.
