Here’s my review of Olaplex, the new weapon against split ends and damage from hair coloring. If you color your hair you should know about this product.
Is there any woman out there who doesn’t color their hair? At least any woman over the age of 35. I’ve been coloring my hair since I-can’t-remember when. First I boosted the blonde when my hair decided to take a sharp turn to dishwater blonde. And then once again in my mid thirties when I mistakenly thought that my hair was getting blonder! No, it was gray. (And yes that reaction does prove that I am a natural blonde.)
All those years of highlighting, dyeing and Brazilian blowouts took a big hit on my hair. My hair was a jungle of split ends and breakage. My stylist suggested that I use this product for my processed hair. Here’s my review of Olaplex.
Thank God for my superbly talented hairdresser Brian, at Haas Salon in Los Angeles. He has saved my hair with a new salon treatment called Olaplex.
Olaplex is a bonding multiplier. (In non-hairdresser speak, it bonds the broken strands in the hair so that they stay resilient and strong, even after a hair coloring session.) When Brian first told me about this salon treatment , I was so skeptical. How many times have we heard of miracle products that save your hair? Exactly. But this stuff IS different.
Here’s my review of Olaplex from a client’s salon chair perspective.
Brian adds Olaplex to the color mixture itself.
It’s mixed in and applied along with the highlights or haircolor.
Then, once the color is rinsed off, and after a shampoo, Brian applies the Olaplex Step 2.
He leaves it on my hair for a bit, rinses it out and then styles my hair as usual.
Each time I get my hair colored, Brian applies Olaplex too. Over time my hair has gotten stronger and much less damaged with fewer frayed ends.
How do I know this? Because I’ve been obsessed with my split ends since junior high.
Some people have real hobbies, mine is counting my split ends. I’m that bored person next to you in traffic examining the ends of her hair like a maniac. Yes, I do that in traffic in addition to these strange things that I also do in my car that I’m ‘fessing up about!
I now have almost no split ends to obsess over. Olaplex might force me to find a new hobby, or at least something new to obsess over.
Olaplex is only available through your hairdresser, so ask them if they offer the Olaplex treatment.
Here’s the Olaplex website, and the Olaplex Facebook page.
Give it a try. It’s really helped my hair.
Would love to hear what your experience has been with Olaplex.
