I’ve been an all black dresser since way back when, but I’m trying something new and adding a touch of navy leather as a neutral this season, a great way to add some color to your fashion over 40 basics.
A New Fashion Over 40 Basic. The Navy Leather Jacket.
I still love me some black! But I’ve been seeing navy and it looks so fresh. I wanted to add this softer look into my wardrobe. Navy is still basic and slimming but the softer color is a fresh change for spring. I took some elements that I already had in my closet and added in my new acquisition, my navy vegan leather jacket.
How luscious is this navy leather jacket?! I love the zippers and padded details along the arms. It’s refined rocker chic. This biker style leather jacket is from Project Gravitas, an amazing new line of clothing. This jacket is an investment piece that I’ll be wearing with jeans, dresses, and skirts for a long time to come.
I paired it with my trouser style jeans from Stitch Fix. (Don’t know about Stitch Fix? Here’s a post all about this fashion subscription service.) These jeans are a perfect meeting outfit. Not overly dressy but pulled together.
I snagged this sleeveless shirt from the back of my closet. It’s a subtle blue pattern with a tie at the neck. Instead of tying it in a bow, I tied it in a loose knot to give it a more casual feel.
I’ve paired it with a treasured pair of earrings. My Baccarat blue glass earrings. I’ve started collecting Baccarat jewelry. Lucy Zahran at The Grove in Los Angeles has one of the largest selections of Baccarat jewelry in the U.S. (And the staff at the store is wonderfully knowledgeable. If you’re at The Grove, this store is a must for Baccarat and Lalique!)
Are you stuck in the all black rut? Maybe try mixing it up by adding some navy leather to freshen up your wardrobe.
