My Stitch Fix Review, March 2015.
I’m in a fashion and style rut. How many times have you opened your jam packed closet and muttered “I have nothing to wear”? Yes, me too.
I’m deep in a black/grey fashion rut. And since I’m kinda single again, I’m trying to shake things up a bit and bring more style into my fashion life. Desperation!
So I’ve tried a monthly fashion subscription service called Stitch Fix to see if that help me find some style. Stitch Fix promised to be your own personal wardrobe stylist. Here’s my Stitch Fix review:
Here’s how it works. You go to the Stitch Fix site and fill out a personal style quiz that asks you lots of questions. What do you do? Work, stay home mom? What’s your budget range? It asks for details on what colors you like. What parts you like to show off? Cleavage, arms, waistline? And which body parts you’d rather not focus on. You can also send links to any of your Pinterest fashion boards to help guide your Stitch Fix stylist.
You select a budget range for the items. Then every month (or every other month-if you decide) they select and ship 5 items to you. For my very first Stitch Fix, I requested items that I could wear with my usual wardrobe of jeans but that would style them up a bit.
Here’s my very first Stitch Fix box!
First of all, the packaging is lovely and it feels very special and “presenty”. There’s a letter from your stylist, a packing and price list of each item, and a pre-addressed return envelope to return the items you don’t want. They make it so easy to just drop the envelope back at the post office for easy return.
They even send you a cheat sheet of ways to style and wear your new clothes. (Thank you for that!)
They sent me five items:
1 Pair of dark rinse skinny jeans
1 Lightweight grey jacket
2 Blouses (1 short sleeved, 1 spaghetti strap)
1 Lightweight open back sweater in Bordeaux
The verdict: My Stitch Fix stylist really paid attention to my colors and the clothes she selected work well for a Southern California climate. All of the items can be mixed, matches and work together.
The Jeans were cute and fit very well but I’d just bought a pair of Paige dark rinse skinny jeans so I didn’t need them. Sending back.
The Grey Jacket (wish I’d taken a pic) great fit and I can layer it over the spaghetti strap top and wear with Skinny Jeans. It’s a perfect weight for our SoCal weather. Keeping!
The short sleeved top was a snug fit through the shoulders. Sending back.
The open back sweater in Bordeaux was another item that I probably wouldn’t have picked out for myself and I think it will definitely help expand and liven up a pair of casual jeans.
The Carra Pump from Ivanka Trump at Nordstroms. Love these! Comfortable and really cute.
The jeans are the Paige Transcend-Skyline Skinny Jeans from Nordstrom. I love Paige denim because they have stretch and really seem to hold their shape.
This is the spaghetti strapped top. It’s a true find! Something that I never would have even tried on. But it’s a great way to freshen up and wear with my dark rinse skinny jeans. I can see this under a dark blazer for evening.
Returning was incredibly easy. You “check out” online and list what didn’t work about the items you return. I’ve heard that your returns help guide and refine your Stitch Fix information so that each box gets even more well suited for your specific personal style.
For my next Stitch Fix box, I’ve asked for a few accessories and jewelry to go with some of these new items. I’m very impressed with how easy it is to use Stitch Fix. I’m sticking with it to assemble some pieces to take me into Spring.
My verdict: Stitch Fix is a total find!
Have you tried Stitch Fix? If so, what did you think of their fashion subscription service?
Love to hear about your Stitch Fix!
xoxo-Rosie
